DRAWING THE LINE: Any one of these four lines might have become the Anglo-Scottish boundary.
The top line was the English proposal, with the Scottish 'offerr' parallel; the French suggestion ran di-
agonally between them. The final line agreed has at each end a cross pattée with wedge-shaped arms.
