ENCOUNTER WITH NATURE: This sketch shows a British officer, sketchbook in hand, recording
the landscape and lush vegetation around Nosier Ravine. This was probably Lieutenant Colonel Light,
who drew a series of views during his service in Guadeloupe in about 1815.
