KEY TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
Bayesian Belief Network: A probabilistic
graphical model (a type of statistical model) that
represents a set of random variables and their
conditional dependencies via a directed acyclic
graph (DAG).
Electrical Grid: An interconnected network
for delivering electricity from suppliers to consum-
ers. It consists of generating stations that produce
electrical power, high-voltage transmission lines
that carry power from distant sources to demand
centers, and distribution lines that connect indi-
vidual customers.
Fuzzy Logic: a form of many-valued logic;
it deals with reasoning that is approximate rather
than fixed and exact. Compared to traditional
binary sets (where variables may take on true or
false values) fuzzy logic variables may have a
truth value that ranges in degree between 0 and 1.
Probability (or Likelihood): A measure or
estimation of how likely it is that something will
happen or that a statement is true.
