Mrs Popcorn's Garden

In a lovely garden on the
road that runs between Little Bagan and the
nat
shrine, the cheerful Mrs Popcorn and her
daughter serve up locally grown tea and coffee, plus simple snacks (no popcorn, though -
Mrs Popcorn's moniker dates from a previous business venture), making it a perfect place to
spend the afternoon lazing in the sun. Cooked meals are available if you order in advance.

Run by Maureen, an Australian expat who has lived in Hsipaw
for many years, this café near where an old pontoon bridge used to span the river serves ex-
cellent coffee (from K1000) and a small range of snacks like pancakes, sandwiches and deli-
cious guacamole.

This little café on Hsipaw's main road serves a
range of delicious fruit juices (K800) concocted by “Mr Shake”, and the excellent chicken
rice (K1500) cooked by his wife, Ayeyong.

The kindly Ko Zaw Tin, aka Mr Book, runs a small bookshop from a
dustyshack,withasmallcollectionofEnglishbooksonsale.He'salsoinvolvedwithseveral
charitable projects and often donates school supplies and funds to village schools near Hsi-
paw - donations of any kind are gratefully received.

Banks
Hsipaw's banks are clustered around the clocktower on Bogyoke Rd, with branches
of KBZ Bank and CB Bank offering currency exchange, although neither has an ATM. In a
pinch most guesthouses will change US dollars too.
