able at the border but Myanmar visas are not, other than a one-day permit ($10 or 500 baht)

crossing should also note that the road on the Myanmar side of the border is largely impass-
able during the rainy season, when it's best to enter the country elsewhere.
Overland from China
The Myanmar-China border crossing between Muse in northern Shan State and Ruili in
China's Yunnan province is nominally open to foreigners, but it's necessary to hold a permit
and to be part of an officially sanctioned tour in order to either enter or leave Myanmar.
Overland from India, Laos and Bangladesh
The crossing between Moreh in India and Tamu in Sagaing Division is theoretically open to
foreigners, but onerous permit requirements - which (if you're lucky) take several months
to negotiate - mean that it is not a feasible route.
There are no official border crossings along Myanmar's short borders with Laos and
Bangladesh .
