One has to feel a little sorry for
KALAW
. Most tourists to this quarter of Myanmar overlook
theplaceinfavourofInletotheeast,andofthosewhodoactuallystayhere,thevastmajority
are only doing so to start a
trek
to the lake - undoubtedly one of the highlights of a visit
to Myanmar, and a wonderful way in which to get a handle on local
minority culture
. Bar
a few religious monuments, there's not much of sightseeing interest in Kalaw itself, though
its lazy, carefree air often tempts visitors to stay on for a couple of extra days, taking a few
leisurelywalksonthehill-trackssurroundingthetown,andmakingfulluseofsomepleasing
culinary opportunities.
