south. New Bagan has a decent range of mid-range options (plus some seriously overpriced
guesthouses,whichoffersimilarstandardstothoseinNyaungUatsignificantlyhigherrates),
while Old Bagan is home to a cluster of upmarket resorts - attractive, if rather pricey for
what you get, and mostly generic, though there are a couple of more appealing exceptions.
Rooms at the places listed here come with a/c and include breakfast. All have some sort of
wi-fi (in theory, at least, if not always in practice) unless specifically stated otherwise.
NYAUNG U AND AROUND

map . Bagan's biggest resort hotel, and also one of its nicest, occupying a swathe of stylish
red-brick buildings with plenty of fancy Burmese decorative touches spread across 27 acres
of attractively landscaped grounds. Rooms are spacious and stylishly furnished with tradi-
tional teak decor, while facilities include a spa and fitness centre - and the palm-studded in-
finity pool, framing a view of nearby temples, is perhaps the nicest in Bagan. It 's no t cheap,
however, and rooms with enhanced views command a seriously hefty premium. $299

Newly opened hotel in a plum position on Restaurant Row. Accommodation is in a couple
of two-storey buildings arranged around a small garden, with comfortable, well-appointed
rooms (although some of the fixtures are already showing signs of wear). Good value, and
