ACCOMMODATION
Aurora Guesthouse 277 Lower Main Rd 057 22785. This neat little guesthouse has a se-
lection of cheap partitioned rooms with spotless shared bathrooms, as well as a few with en-
suite ($20). There's a pleasant shared balcony and the owner is gruff but helpful, making this
a great budget option if you want to escape from Breeze . No wi-fi or breakfast available. $12
BreezeGuesthouse 6StrandRd 05721450, breeze.guesthouse@gmail.com . Thisback-
packer favourite looks promising at first glance, but the majority of the grubby cell-like
rooms are crammed into one small corner of the elegant colonial building. There are a few
more attractive rooms available (K25,000), but you'll need to reserve online if you want to

Cinderella Hotel 21 Baho St 057 24411, cinderellahotel.com . A few blocks east of
Strand Rd, Cinderella has a small army of staff who provide excellent service, from the wel-
come drink to the enormous breakfasts. Rooms are pleasant, the beds are comfortable, and
the hallways display a treasure-trove of f B urmese handicrafts. The huge breakfasts are partic-
ularly good and there's fast free wi-fi. $45
MawlamyaingStrandHotel BetweenLowerMainRdandStrandRd 05725624, maw-
lamyaingstrandhotel.com . As you'd expect from Mawlamyine's fanciest hotel, the spacious
rooms here are attractive and comfortable, though they're somewhat bland. There are two
hotel restaurants (one inside and one open-air, t he l latter with nightly karaoke) and an excel-
lent buffet breakfast is included, as is free wi-fi. $90
OK Hotel 11-12 Thaton Tadar St, on the corner with Strand Rd 057 24677, okhotel-
mlm.com . The tiled rooms here may not be particularly stylish, but they are clean and com-
fortable, and each one comes with a/c and en-suite bathroom, some with bathtubs. Since it's
close to the market, rooms facing Thaton Tadar St can be very noisy - try to get one of the
quieter rooms overlooking Strand Rd and the river. $35
EATING AND DRINKING
