The beach
“Ngapali” is a rather loose umbrella term used to cover several former fishing villages now
all but linked up into a long necklace of hotels and resorts. At the north end of the beach,
the area aroundtheairport is home to a burgeoning number of large resorts, while south of
here the villages of Lin Thar and Mya Pyin (aka “Myabin”) are where you'll find most of
Ngapali's other hotels.
SouthofMyaPyin(justpastthe Pleasant View Resort ),thelargervillageof Gyeiktaw (aka
Jade Taw) remains determinedly local, with lots of little thatched wooden huts and a per-
vasive smell of drying seafood - there's a lively fish market here, best in the early morning
(around 6-7am). The next village south is Lon Tha . A small hilltop temple here offers su-
perb views over the area - guides for the walk can be arranged at the Silverfull restaurant.

northern end of Lin Thar village.
