KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING AUDIT FOR PGCE
SECONDARY COMPUTER SCIENCE WITH ICT
This audit is designed to help us to help you. It is not a test: you are already on the
course and won't be thrown off if there are too many gaps at the moment. Please
be as honest as you can. Remember, even experienced Computing teachers need
to develop skills and knowledge.
There are two broad areas of knowledge, skills and understanding you need to
demonstrate/develop:
1
What might be termed 'pure' subject knowledge, skills and understanding,
the Computing knowledge, skills and understanding you have as a subject
expert, which informs teaching.
2
Pedagogical knowledge, skills and understanding; that is, how pure subject
knowledge and understanding is mediated in the classroom to provide
meaningful learning experiences so that pupils' Computing knowledge,
skills and understanding develops and pupils make progress in their
learning.
