Drugstores In Waikiki, Kuhio Pharmacy, 2330 Kuhio Ave., behind the
International Market Place ( & 808/923-4466 ), is open daily from 7am to
10pm.
Emergencies Call & 911 for police, fire, and ambulance. The Poison Con-
trol Center is at 1319 Punahou St. ( & 808/941-4411 ).
Hospitals Hospitals offering 24-hour emergency care include Queens
Medical Center, 1301 Punchbowl St. ( & 808/538-9011); Kuakini Medical
Center, 347 Kuakini St. ( & 808/536-2236); Straub Clinic and Hospital, 888

922-1677 ). It's open daily from 7am to 11pm (but closed on holidays) and
serves drinks.
Libraries The main branch is the Hawaii State Library, 378 S. King St., Hon-
olulu ( & 808/586-3500; www.librarieshawaii.org), which features “Chil-
dren's Storytime” every Saturday at 10:30am. It's recommended for children
of all ages.
Newspapers The Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin are
Oahu's daily papers. Pacific Business News and Honolulu Weekly are
weekly papers. Honolulu Weekly, available free at restaurants, clubs,
shops, and newspaper racks around Oahu, is the best source for what's
going on around town.
Post Office The downtown branch is in the old U.S. Post Office, Customs
& Court House Building (referred to as the “old Federal Building”) at 335
Merchant St., across from Iolani Palace and next to the Kamehameha
Statue (bus: 2). Other branch offices include the Waikiki Post Office, 330
Saratoga Ave. (Diamond Head side of Fort DeRussy; bus: 19 or 20); and the
Ala Moana Shopping Center (bus: 8, 19, or 20). For other locations, call

Radio Major stations include KINE (105 FM), which plays traditional and
contemporary Hawaiian music; KCCN (100 FM), contemporary Hawaiian
