Both cars and four-wheel-drive vehicles are available at the Dollar Rent-A-Car
desk at Lanai City Service/Lanai Plantation Store, 1036 Lanai Ave. ( & 800/
588-7808 for Dollar reservations, or 808/565-7227 for Lanai City Service).
Expect to pay about $60 a day for the least expensive car available, a Nissan Sen-
tra, and up to $129 a day for a four-wheel-drive Jeep.
The Lodge at Koele, Manele Bay Hotel, and Hotel Lanai provide transporta-
tion for their guests; others can call the Lanai Plantation Store ( & 808/565-
7227 ) for transportation from Lanai City to Hulopoe Beach for $10 per person
one-way.

Drugstores Lanai's only pharmacy is at the Lanai Community Hospital,
628 7th Ave. ( & 808/565-9650 ).
Emergencies Call the police, fire department, or ambulance services at
& 911, or the Poison Control Center at & 800/362-3585.
Internet Access Besides your hotel, the best place for Internet access is
Lanai's public library (see below).
Libraries The library is on Fraser Avenue in Lanai City ( & 808/565-7920 ).
It's open Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 4:30pm
and Thursday from 2 to 8pm.
Post Office The post office is at 731 Lanai Ave., in Lanai City ( & 808/565-
6517 ). It's open Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm and Saturday
from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
Radio Lanai doesn't have any local radio stations, but you can pick up the
signals from Maui and Oahu.
Restrooms Fast-food joints and beach parks are the best spots for rest-
rooms when your kids can't wait.
Safety Lanai is generally safe, but crimes against travelers aren't unheard
of, so stay alert and use the same common sense you'd use in a big city.

3 Family-Friendly Accommodations
The majority of the accommodations are located “in the village,” as residents call
Lanai City, with the exception of Manele Bay Hotel or tent camping under the
stars at the park. Don't forget to add 11.42% in taxes to all accommodation bills.
