Task 2
The Tourism Offi cer in your council is running a travel trade fair for local hoteliers, visitor attractions, activity
centres, coach operators, etc. He would like you to research a

d make a presentation on the development
of travel and tourism over the last 50 years. Specifi cally, you must:
Summarise key developments (from the 1960s onwards) that hav
e
shaped the present day travel and tourism
sector (P4).
You should cover at least ten developments in your presentation. Be aw
a
re that the developments you select
should have had, or are continuing to have, a signifi cant effect on the
t
ravel and tourism sector today. You
should not include singular 'events' in your presentation, e.g. a specifi c
a
ct of terrorism.
This task is designed to provide evidence for P4.

job with Angela Sayers, a freelance travel writer who regularly writes for the nati

newspapers. Angela has been asked to write an article about today's travel and tourism sector. She wants
you to help research the factual side of this article for her and has asked you to carr

tasks:

describe and review at least three trends and three factors that are of signifi cance to what i

and tourism sector (M2). You must link recent and current developments, trends and facto

is happening in the sector today, providing clear explanations with justifi cation that should include
supporting statistics.
