Nature o f the premises - the agency must be open for business on a regular basis and be clearly identifi ed
as a travel agency;
Security of premise s - premises must be adequately protected and a safe installed for the storage of
airline tickets and ot h er valuables;
Staff qualifi cations - staff s elling the IATA tickets and services must be permanent employees and have
relevant experience and q u al i fi cations, e.g. British Airways Fares and Ticketing Courses;
Finances - applicants must subm i t a full set of audited accounts for scrutiny by IATA personnel and meet
certain minimum share capital/ca p ital account amounts. Additionally, approved agents are required to
submit a copy of their annual report a nd accounts within 6 months of the fi nancial year end;
Bonding - a bank or insurance comp a n y bond will be required, based on a percentage of annual
turnover.
On payment of a non-refundable application fee and an entry fee, the successful applicant will be granted
an IATA licence to sell airline tickets and the services of IATA member airlines.
