Task 2
The boss of the company would l i ke you to do some research to outline different types of holidays available
in long-haul destinations that meet specifi c UK visitor motivations (P2). She would like you to make a
presentation in which you must select one city, one coastal/beach, one natural, one purpose-built and one
historical/cultural long-haul destination, i.e . fi ve destinations in total. Each one must be located in a different
continent, for example a city in Asia, coastal / beach in Australasia, natural in Africa, purpose-built in North
America and historical/cultural in South Ameri c a. You may select your destinations from those chosen in Task
1 or choose others.
Your presentation must include a short outline of t h e different types of holidays offered by each of your
fi ve chosen destinations to meet different UK visitor motivations. You must include brief details of typical
holidays with named tour operators and how they meet particular visitor motivations. It is not necessary for
you to cover each type of holiday - short break, single-c e n t re, twin or multi-centre, cruise and touring - for
each destination, but you must ensure that each holiday ty p e is covered within your presentation and that
each prescribed visitor motivation - relaxation, special occasi o n, activities, attractions/entertainment, culture
and history, natural world, other - has been addressed at least o nce.
This task is designed to provide evidence for P2.
Task 3
Your line manager at the company would like you to write a report in whic h you should:

seasonality, extreme climatic conditions, entry requirements, travel restrictions , safety, health issues and
social situations.

destinations that you selected for Task 2 or use other destinations for which travel factors have greater
signifi cance. You may use the same destination for several factors and must use news reports and articles
to show how factors affect travel to your selected destinations.
c.
Analyse the impact of travel factors on selected long-haul destinations (D1). Your report must focus on at
least two destinations and the examples should be from within the last fi ve years, e.g. an analysis of the
impact of the swine fl u pandemic on travel to Mexican tourist destinations. At least two d ifferent travel
factors and two different long-haul travel destinations must be addressed.
This task is designed to produce evidence for P3, M1 and D1.
