Other motivations
FOCUS ON INDUSTRY
Motivations for travel to European destinations, other
than those discussed in the previous sections of this
unit, include media infl uences on a destination's
image. This could be a fi lm, book or TV programme
that showcases an area, for example the promotion of
Kefalonia in Greece following the release of Captain
Corelli's Mandolin as a fi lm in 2001. Other motivations
for travel to Europe include visiting friends and relatives
(VFR), shopping, volunteering, watching and taking
part in sport.
