Access to Shrewsbury
Shrewsbury's central l o cation in the heart of Britain makes it very accessible by a number of types of
transport.
By car - the town is a one- h our drive from Birmingham, 3 hours from London and 2 hours from Holyhead.
The town has a direct dual c ar riageway link to the national motorway network via the M54.
By train - Shrewsbury's restored Victorian railway station is right in the centre of the town by the Castle.
There are regular train services f r o m London Euston and good connections to Manchester, Crewe,
Chester, Cardiff, Aberystwyth and st a tions en-route;
By air - Birmingham International Airport i s 60 miles from Shrewsbury and offers a full range of domestic
and international fl ights;
By coach - there are direct National Express se r vi c es daily from London Victoria and connections to other
UK towns served by the network;
Buses - regular buses serve all main parts of the town, as well as the principal Shropshire towns, with most
visitor attractions being accessible by bus.
Park-and-ride - this service offers an excellent way for local pe o ple and tourists to get right to the centre of
the town where many of its attractions are situated. Park-and-ride facilities can be found to the south, west
and north of the main town.
