In-Depth Information
Grotta del Buontalenti
Hundreds of seashells decorate the facade of this fanciful grotto designed by the sculptor
Giambologna. To see Venere (Venus) rising from the waves and to inspect the grotto's
other sculptures, take one of the daily guided tours (11am, 1pm and 3pm year-round, with
one or two later tours between March and September). No extra ticket is necessary.
Top Tips
Ticketing for the palace complex and surrounding gardens is complicated: choose from Ticket 1 (Galleria
Palatina, Appartamenti Reali and Galleria d'Arte Moderna); Ticket 2 (Galleria del Costume, Museo degli Argen-
ti, Giardino di Boboli, Giardino Bardini and Museo delle Porcellane); and Ticket 3 (all sights; valid for three
days). Buy these from the ticket office to the right of the palace entrance.
Take a Break
In summer, head to the Giardino Bardini (entrance included in Tickets 2 and 3) to enjoy a coffee, a tea, a
panino (sandwich) or an ice cream in its cafe , which is set in a stone loggia overlooking the Florentine skyline.
In winter, enjoy a classic Tuscan meal at family-run Da Ruggero ( Click here ).
