Top Sights
Basilica di Santa Croce
The austere interior of this massive Franciscan basilica is a
surprise when compared with its magnificent neo-Gothic
facade, which is enlivened by varying shades of coloured
marble. Though most visitors come to see the tombs of
Michelangelo, Dante, Galileo and Machiavelli in the nave,
it's the frescoes by Giotto and his school in the chapels to
the right of the altar and the utterly exquisite Cappella de'
Pazzi at the end of the first cloister that are the real high-
lights here.
