This unassuming little shop resembles dozens of others, but closer inspection reveals
some of the city's best ceramics. Specialising in wares from nearby towns Montelupo and
Deruta, the store sells objects made entirely by hand, many of which sport particularly
vivid golds and vermillions. Given the quality of the work, prices are quite reasonable.

FURNISHINGS
Specialising in brocade textiles in classical Florentine style, this shop is heavily laden
with tassels, table runners, bed covers, pillowcases and wall hangings. It may have a
work-a-day air, but the fabrics are rich, opulent and top-notch. A must if you want to re-
create that Medici look back home!

This permanent market stall inside the Mercato Centrale is one of the finest places in
Florence to buy Tuscan olive oil. Ask to taste it first to savour the difference between
Tuscany's many different bitter, spicy, green and yellow olive oils; don't hesitate to ask
