SANDWICHES
Around since 1973 and our favourite for its simplicity. Sunrise to sunset, this brick-vaul-
ted, 13th-century cellar gently buzzes with Florentines propped at the counter sipping cof-
fee or wine. Come here for a coffee-and-pastry breakfast, light lunch (the salads are good),
aperitivo
or
panino
to eat on the run.

L'Osteria di Giovanni
€€
It's not the decor that stands out at this friendly neighbourhood eatery. It's the cuisine,
which is Tuscan and creative. Think chickpea soup with octopus, or pear and
ricotta-stuffed
tortelli
(a type of ravioli) bathed in a leek and almond cream. Added extras
include a complimentary glass of
prosecco
(a type of sparkling wine) and plate of
coccoli
(traditional Florentine salted fritters) as a starter.
