If you do want to go on to the three-year art school degree, competition for undergraduate
places is based on the volume and standard of work in a candidate's entry portfolio. Having
a portfolio from your foundation course puts you at a natural advantage. Course providers
also advise against specialising in one discipline, say sculpture, before covering the more
wide-ranging syllabus of a foundation course.
