Festivals
Whether musical, literary or dramatic, there are all kinds of festivals taking place up and
down the country every year. You need to apply as early as possible, as there aren't that
many placements. Satellite organisations spring up around core festivals; so if you are un-
successful at first, try to be transferred to another department. The work can be paid or on
a voluntary basis. Short-term work, including catering and stewarding, is available mainly
during the summer. Recruitment often starts on a local level, so check the local papers and
recruitment agencies.
