In-Depth Information
Finding the right place to learn
Universities often have international summer school centres or courses for foreign students,
or there's the popular network of British Institutes abroad. And there are hundreds (probably
thousands) of independent language colleges to choose from, either directly or through a
language course organiser or agency in the UK.
The advantage in dealing with a UK-based organisation is that, if something goes wrong, it
is easier to get it sorted out under UK law.
Choosing a course provider
There are a number of companies that you can choose to take your language course with. Do
make you get as much information from them as possible before making your choice.
Live Languages Abroad offer some excellent options. Their website can be found at:
www.livelanguagesabroad.co.uk
These pages are also worth at look:
www.esl.co.uk
www.europa-pages.co.uk - for language courses in European countries.

Living with a family
If enrolling on a language course sounds too much like school, another way of learning a
language is staying with a family as an au pair or tutor (giving, say, English or music lessons
to children) and going to part-time classes locally.
