Before you sign up, make sure you're clear just what your placement will involve. An in-
ternship should mean you are able to do interesting paid work related to your degree stud-
ies, current or future, for at least six months, but increasingly, even on some of the intern-
ship websites listed above, the distinction between a voluntary (unpaid) placement and an
internship is becoming blurred so you may have to search for a while - or be creative and
try a direct approach to companies in the fields that interest you.
Sport instructors
If you're already a qualified instructor in skiing, sailing, kayaking, diving, football, or any
other sport for that matter, there are many places all around the world where you can use
your skills - and many personal benefits.
Typical summer seasons run from the end of April to the beginning of November and
winter seasons tend to run from the end of November until the end of April. That provides
an opportunity for all-year round work, although it's worth noting that recruitment nor-
mally starts five months in advance.
In some cases people can even get qualified and teach people to ski in the same season,
such as in Oyster's Whistler Kids Instructor programme.
Here are a few websites worth having a look at:
Skiing:

www.jobmonkey.com/ski/html/instructors.html
Football:

General Sports:

Skiing doesn't have to be in European resorts, don't forget there's the US and Canada, but
there are also ski resorts in the foothills of the Himalayas! For diving jobs you can go pretty
well anywhere there's water and water sports.
Football's popular throughout Africa and Latin America, and there are now several football
academies in India looking for help to spread the message of the 'beautiful game'.
