Arles Bullfights
Les Arènes was originally built to stage the gory gladiator contests so loved by
the Romans, and today is still the scene of battles between man and beast. Dur-
ing the bullfighting season, every seat in the arena is filled. Most contests are
Provençal-style, in which the bull is not killed, but Spanish-style corridas also
take place.
Tip: Save on entry fees with a “passeport” from the tourist office.
