Asanha Bucha
The full moon of the eighth lunar month commemorates Buddha's first sermon. The day
after this begins Khao Phansaa, also called Buddhist Lent.
Khao Phansaa
Buddhist Lent (the first day of the waning moon in the eighth lunar month) is the tradition-
al time for men to enter the monkhood and monks typically retreat inside the monastery
for a period. During Khao Phansaa, worshippers make offerings to the temples and attend
ordinations.
