STANSTED
Stansted Airport ( 0844 335 1803, www.stanstedairport.com ) is roughly 35 miles north-
east of the capital. Stansted Express trains run non-stop to Liverpool Street
(5.30am-12.30am; every 15-30min; journey 45min), and cost £24 single, £33 return.
easyBus ( www.easybus.co.uk ) runs buses to Baker Street tube (daily 7am-1am; every
20min; 1hr 15min), with online tickets going for as little as £2 single (£10 if you buy on
board). National Express runs buses 24 hours a day calling at various places in London en
route to Victoria Coach Station (every 10-30min; journey 1hr 30min), with tickets for
around £10 single. Terravision ( 01279 662931, www.terravision.eu ) also runs coaches
to Liverpool Street (daily 7am-1am; every 30min; journey time 1hr 15min), with tickets £9
single, £15 return. A taxi will set you back £100 or more, and take at least an hour.
LUTON
London Luton Airport ( 01582 405100, www.london-luton.co.uk ) is roughly thirty miles
north of London and mainly handles low-cost flights. A free shuttle bus takes five minutes
to reach Luton Airport Parkway station, which is connected by train to King's Cross St
Pancras (every 15-30min; journey 25-35min) and other stations in central London; single
tickets cost around £15. All year round, 24 hours a day, Green Line (
www.greenline.co.uk ) and easyBus ( www.easybus.co.uk ) run up to three buses an hour
from Luton to Victoria Station (every 20-30min; journey 1hr 20min), stopping at several
locations en route, including Baker Street; tickets cost as little as £2 if you book in advance
online (or £10 single, £15 return if you don't). A taxi will cost in the region of £70-80 and
take at least an hour to central London.
CITY
London City Airport ( 020 7646 0088, www.londoncityairport.com ), the capital's smal-
lest and used primarily by business folk, is situated in the Royal Albert Docks, ten miles
east of central London, and handles almost exclusively European flights. The Docklands
Light Railway (DLR) takes you straight to Bank in the City (Mon-Sat 5.30am-12.15am,
Sun 7am-11.15pm; every 8-15min; journey 20min), where you can change to the tube;
single tickets cost around £5. A taxi from the airport to the City's financial sector will cost
around £20, and take half an hour or so.
BY TRAIN AND COACH
Eurostar ( 0843 2186 186, www.eurostar.com ) trains arrive at the beautifully refur-
bished St Pancras International train station, next door to King's Cross, which is served by
