Framed by dazzling Nash-designed, magnolia-stuccoed terraces, and home to London
Zoo, Regent's Park is a very civilized and well-maintained spot. Nearby Camden, by
contrast, has a scruffy feel to it, despite its many well-to-do residential streets. This is
partly due to the chaos and fall-out from the area's perennially popular weekend mar-
ket, centred around Camden Lock on the Regent's Canal. A warren of stalls with an al-
ternative past still manifest in its quirky wares, street fashion, books, records and ethnic
goods, the market remains one of the city's best-known off-beat attractions.
