London's wealthiest district, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is particu-
larly well-to-do in the area south of Hyde Park. The moneyed feel here is evident in the
flash shops and swanky bars as well as the plush houses and apartments. The most pop-
ular area for tourists, meanwhile, is South Kensington, where three of London's top
museums stand side by side. Further south, Chelsea has a slightly more bohemian pedi-
gree, although these days, it's really just another wealthy west London suburb. To the
north, Notting Hill is rammed solid with trendy - but wealthy - media folk, yet retains a
strong Moroccan and Portuguese presence, as well as vestiges of the African-Caribbean
community who initiated - and still run - Carnival, the city's largest street party.
