DOVETAIL
9 Jerusalem Passage Farringdon.Mon-Sat noon-11pm. MAP
Marvellous, understated Belgian bar offering 101 varieties of beer (including a dozen or
so on tap). The unfussy decor comprises pew-style seating, green-tiled tables and ceram-
ic wall tiling. First-rate Belgian food, too.
JAMAICA WINE HOUSE
St Michael's Alley Bank.Mon-Fri 11am-11pm. MAP
Located down a narrow alleyway, on the site of London's first coffee house (1652), this
old City institution is known locally as the “Jam Pot”. Despite the name, it is really just a
pub, divided into four large “snugs” by original high wooden-panelled partitions.
JERUSALEM TAVERN
55 Britton St Farringdon.Mon-Fri 11am-11pm. MAP
Converted Georgian coffee house - the frontage dates from 1810 - that has retained
much of its original character. Better still, the excellent draught beers are from St Peter's
Brewery in Suffolk. Something of a gem in these parts.
THE LAMB TAVERN
10-12 Leadenhall Market Monument or Bank.Mon-Fri 11am-11pm. MAP
It's almost exclusively standing room only (both inside and out) at this super Young's
pub situated in the middle of beautiful Leadenhall Market. The tilted Tom's Bar down-
stairs offers good cheese/sausage platters.
OLD BANK OF ENGLAND
194 Fleet St Temple or Chancery Lane.Mon-Fri 11am-11pm. MAP
Not the actual Bank of England, but the former Law Courts' branch, this imposing High
Victorian banking hall is now a magnificently opulent Fuller's ale-and-pie pub.
THE THREE KINGS
7 Clerkenwell Close Farringdon.Mon-Fri noon-11pm, Sat 5.30-11pm. MAP
Tucked away north of Clerkenwell Green, this atmospheric pub has a delightfully eclect-
ic interior and two small rooms upstairs perfect for long occupation.
