Housed in a miniature eighteenth-century French-style chateau, the Wallace Collection is an
old-fashioned place, with exhibits piled high in glass cabinets, paintings covering every inch
of wall space and a bloody great armoury. The collection is best known for its eighteenth-
century French furniture and paintings (especially Watteau); look out, too, for Franz Hals'
Laughing Cavalier , Titian's Perseus and Andromeda , Velázquez's Lady with a Fan and
Rembrandt's affectionate portrait of his teenage son, Titus. Labelling can be pretty terse and
paintings occasionally move about, so you might consider renting an audioguide.
