Getting Around
Walking is the most scenic and often easiest way to navigate Venice - and it's
free. The other way to navigate this city on the water is by boat, and there are
plenty of boating options. Cars and bicycles can be used on the Lido.
Vaporetto
Passenger ferries run throughout Venice and to outlying islands - note the line
and direction at the dock to make sure you catch the right boat. Single rides cost
€7; for frequent use, get a timed pass (24-hour passes cost €20). Limited wheel-
chair access.
Gondola
Not mere transport but an adventure - and the best way to slip into Venice's smal-
ler canals and glimpse the city behind the scenes. Count on €80 per 40 minutes
plus tip, and surcharges after dark. Music costs extra.
