ARRIVAL AND INFORMATION
ARGOSTÓLI
By plane There are no airport buses, so taxis (at least €10)
are the only way into town.
By bus The KTEL bus station is 100m south of the Dhrápano
causeway in the south of town. A city bus links the centre of
town with Lássi at least hourly in season (30min).
By ferry There are frequent flat-bottomed boats to Lixoúri
(Mon-Sat every 30min, Sun hourly; 20min).

the centre, just beyond the Katavóthres sea mills, this
campsite has decent facilities, includin g a minimarket.

Small house very close to the bus station with extremely
simple rooms with shared bathrooms, whose friendly
owner offers cofe e in the leafy courtyard. The only budget

island and surprisingly reasonable for what it is - designer
decor from the lob by u p to the chic bathroom fixtures.

kitchenettes in a brightly painted block north of the Lixoúri
ferry dock , all l with a/c and TV, some with sea-facing

are fairly compact and do not matc h the grandeur of the

RESTAURANTS
Ì Arhondiko Rizospastón 5 T 26710 27213. Classy
stone building with a small patio out front, where the
kandádhes from pricey The Captain's Table next door can
often be heard. The friendly proprietress serves tasty dishes
such as exohikó , strapatsádha and biftéki in Roquefort
sauce. Daily noon-1am.
Karamosal A. Trítsi T 26710 28590. Good ouzerí, with
an artistic touch in the bright decor and a fair bit of
imagination in the preperation of the mezédhes, which
include cheese croquettes, pickled anchovies, meatballs
and various veg options. Daily noon-1am.
Ì Kiani Akti A. Trítsi T 26710 26680. Unmissable
dining experience on a large wooden deck jutting out over
the water by the new cruise-ship dock, about 400m north
of Platía Valianou. Specializes in seafood such as razor
clams in mustard sauce and shrimps in ouzo. Friendly
service and reasonable prices. Daily 1pm-2am.
Kohenoor Lavrága T 26710 26789. Just southeast of
Platía Valiánou, this British-run curry house has an Indian
chef and is one of the most authentic in the Ionians. Daily
6pm-midnight; closed Mon Nov-April.
Tzivras V. Vandhórou 1. A classic daytime-only estiatório
with an impressive range of staples from the oven,

Aristofanis A. Trítsi T 26710 28012. Right by the
Dhrápano bridge, this simple old-style kafenío might have
a limited repertoire of coffee and basic booze but it enjoys
one of the best locations in town, ideal for some gentle
people-watching. Daily 8am-midnight.

Opposite the archeological museum, this is the town's main
late-night indoor club, whose hi-tech interior shakes to the
latest vibes of various dance genres and hosts occasional
live acts. Daily 10pm-late.
Notes T 26710 23597. Argostóli's big summer bouzoúki
club, nearly 2km north of town before the Katavóthres sea
mills, is the place to head if you want to join the Greeks in
rose-throwing and whiskey-drinking escapades. June-
Sept daily 10pm-late.
Ì Pub Old House Harboúri 13-15 T 26710 23532.
Tucked behind the kids' playground, the most relaxed and
welcoming hangout on the island is a great place to have a
drink in the magical garden and unwind to an eclectic
range of mostly rock sounds. Daily 7pm-late.
The Livathó peninsula
The bulge of land southeast of Argostóli known as the Livathó peninsula is a patchwork
