Áyios Stéfanos
The most attractive resort on this stretch of coast, 3km down a lane from Siniés on the
main road, is ÁYIOS STÉFANOS (officially Áyios Stéfanos Sinión to distinguish it from
its namesake in northwestern Corfu). The delightful bay bends almost at a right angle,
the northern section of which contains the beach, beyond the string of restaurants.
ARRIVAL AND GETTING AROUND
THE NORTHEAST
By bus Green buses between Corfu Town and Kassiópi
serve all resorts, along with some blue suburban buses as
far as Dhassiá.
By boat In Áyios Stéfanos, Giannis Boats ( T 26630 81322,
W giannisboats.gr) rents out vessels of varying sizes from
€50 per day.
ACTIVITIES
Diving Ýpsos is home to one of the island's major diving
centres, Waterhoppers
watersports outfit in Dhassiá ( T 694 28 52 188,
W corfuskiclub.com), claims to be the world's first
paragliding operator.

Corfu, where tents are pitched under terraced olive trees.
There are also bungalow huts, a pool, shop, bar and a

DHASSIÁ AND ÝPSOS

coast apart from the superior Dionysus at Dhafníla has a bar

Dassia Beach/Dassia Margarita Dhassiá T 26610

hotels, the best options on the beach itself, with large
dining rooms and adequat e b alconied guest rooms.

Dassia Chandris/Corfu Chandris Dhassiá T 26610

the resort imperiously from the main road, and have
extensive grounds, pools and beach facilities, as well as

BARBÁTI
Paradise T 26630 91320. Up above the main road set amid
a colourful tiered garden, this place offers decent-sized room s
with balconies, offering bird's-eye sea views. April-Oct. €35
ÁYIOS STÉFANOS
Kochili T 26630 81522. This fine family taverna, which
serves good home-style oven food and grills, also has the
only independently bookable rooms in the vill age, simply
furnished but with lovely bay views. May-Oct. €40
EATING, DRINKING AND NIGHTLIFE
DHASSIÁ AND ÝPSOS
B52 Ýpsos. One of the most enduring clubs that line the
northern end of the seafront, popular for its large outdoor
dancefloor, where you can shake it to pop, soul, funk and
reggae. May to mid-Oct 8pm-late.

Corfu's prime beach nightclub draws revellers from far and
wide. International DJs play cutting-edge techno, trance
and other latest genres to a lively crowd. Occasional rock
and other theme nights. May-Sept daily 9pm-late.
Karydia Dhassiá T 26630 93562. A good restaurant on
the main road, with a pleasant garden, serving well-
prepared versions of Corfiot specialities such as sofríto and
pastitsadha , accompanied by decent barrelled wine. April-
Oct 2pm-midnight.
AGNÍ, KALÁMI AND KOULOÚRA
Ì Nikolas Agní T 26630 91243. The oldest taverna of
the excellent trio here. Superb home-style dishes such as
lamb kléftiko are served with a smile and there are plenty
of tasty mezédhes to choose from. April-Oct daily
9am-1am; Nov-March Fri-Sun noon-1am.
Toula's Agní T 26630 91350. Rather upmarket restaurant
with a grand terrace, where the huge menu includes a range
of home-made pies and even Black Angus Argentinian
steaks (upwards of €20). May-Sept 12.30-11pm.
White House Kálami T 26630 91040. Located in the old
Durrell house and recommended for its specials - mussels
and swordfish with garlic - but also good for simple grills,
salads and a variety of mezédhes. April-Oct daily, Nov-
March Fri-Sun, noon-1am.
