Blue House T 28250 91127. This friendly taverna,
beneath the rooms of the same name, has a good choice of
fresh home-cooked Cretan and Greek dishes, all at
reasonable prices. April-Oct daily 10am-late.
Ilios T 28250 91160. Good seafood and fish, which is
caught from their own boat, and reasonable prices. Try the
excellent swordfish (€9). Standard taverna fare is also
served. Located at the far eastern end of the bay, just
beyond the beach. April-Oct daily 10am-late.
PALEÓHORA
Atoli T 28230 41645. Lively café-bar serving drinks and
snacks - a good spot to catch the sunset - that has
occasional live music, both Greek traditional and modern.
Southern end of Sandy Beach. Daily 10am-late.
Ì Caravella T 28230 41131. Overlooking the harbour,
this is Paleóhora's flagship seafood restaurant. The cooking
and service are outstanding, as is their chilled hýma
(barrelled wine) from a vineyard in the Kastélli Kissámou
area. April-Oct daily lunch & dinner.
Ì The Third Eye T 28230 41234. An excellent
vegetarian restaurant which includes plenty of Asian spices
and ingredients you won't find anywhere else on the
island, as well as the usual Greek veggie dishes and
vegetarian curry (€7). Inland from sandy beach. April-Oct.

AYÍA ROUMÉLI
Taverna Tara T 28250 91231. Under the same
management as the Hotel Kalypso , this taverna offers the
usual suspects - oven-baked lamb and stuffed aubergines,
from €5, on a large seafront terrace by the ferry dock.
