GETTING AROUND
By bus There is a single island bus, which shuttles in the
high season regularly (4-8 daily; 7.15am-11.45pm)
between the harbour and Hóra. Note that the bus changes
to a normal four-seater car out of season.
By car and motorcycle The island's only rental office is at
the Eko petrol station 50m back from Aloprónia; it mostly
rents scooters.
Aloprónia
Such tourist facilities that exist are concentrated in the little harbour of Aloprónia , with
its crystal-clear water, sandy beach, breakwaters and jetty. Many of the few dozen
houses around the bay are summer holiday homes owned by expat Sikiniots now
resident in Athens or beyond.

Hóra
HÓRA consists of the double village of Kástro and Horió . As you slowly drive or walk up
from Aloprónia, the scenery turns out to be less desolate than initial views from the
ferry suggest, while the village itself, draped across a ridge overlooking the sea, is a
delightfully unspoilt settlement. Most of the facilities are in the larger, northeastern
Kástro, whereas Horió is mainly residential. A partly ruined fortress-monastery,
