looks, this is a place for all budgets offering a range of

complex by the road up to Hóra, with a range of facilities,
including its own club, minimarket, pool and poolside bar.
It offers film shows, twice-weekly live music and

MYLOPÓTAS

attractive and luxurious, with buildings arranged around a
swimming pool, this complex has rooms rather on the
small side, but it comes up trumps on location and services
offered including free wi-fi, childre n's pool, a fitness studio
and tennis courts. May-Oct. €120

.com. Large campsite with well-organized facilities, including
a pool, laundry, internet, bungalows and a good-value

HÓRA
Lord Byron T 22860 92125. A mezedhopolío off the main
square that tries hard to re-create a traditional atmosphere,
with old rembétika music, a good, Greek menu (mains €12)
and a well-chosen Santoríni wine list. Extremely popular, so
make a booking or come early. Daily 6pm-1am.
Ì The Nest Old Town T 22860 91778. Signposted from
everywhere in Hóra, this is where the locals go to eat and you
will soon find out why: from the moment you sit down the
service and sociability are exceptional. Try the yiuvétsi (veal
baked in pasta), a snip at €7. April-Oct daily noon-1am.

MYLOPÓTAS
Drákos T 22860 91281. Right at the water's edge, this is
the best fish taverna on Mylopótas offering mostly fried
seafood dishes (€10). If you want to challenge your
tastebuds, try its cod in garlic sauce, which is thankfully
based mostly on mashed potato. May-Sept daily
noon-2am.
Mários T 22860 91130. Perched alone on a curve on the
road to Hóra at the top of the steps to the beach, this chalet-
like restaurant has spectacular views, excellent service and
enormous pizzas for €9. Daily noon-midnight.
YIALÓS
Octopus Tree T 697 27 54 365. A warm, intimate space a
bit out of the way by the fishing boats on the Yialós
NIGHTLIFE AND ENTERTAINMENT
Every evening during the summer, Hóra is the centre of the island's nightlife, its streets throbbing with music from ranks of
competing discos and clubs - mostly free, or with a nominal entrance charge, and inexpensive drinks. Most of the smaller
bars and pubs are tucked into the narrow streets of the old village on the hill, offering something for everyone, and you'll
have no trouble finding them.
Skorpion Cavernous club on the road to Mylopótas, with
an excellent sound and lighting system; its frenetic
atmosphere is up there with the best on Mýkonos. This is
where everyone ends up when the clubs in Hóra close, so
large queues start forming around 3am. €10 with first
drink. June-Sept daily midnight-8am.
CLUBS
Fun Pub Old Hóra W funpubios.com. An early starter
and late finisher, this is a lively, Irish-themed and Irish-
owned pub in the narrow backstreets of Hóra. From
karaoke, quiz nights and internet to free films and a pool
table, you can come here seven nights a week and still be
entertained. April-Oct daily 6pm-3am.
Íos Club W iosclub.gr. Since 1969, this snack bar at the top of
the stairs leading to Yialós starts off the evening with classical
music while the clients sit back and enjoy the sweeping sunset
views over Yialós. May-Sept daily 6pm-late.
THEATRE
Odysséas Elýtis W Ios.gr. An outdoor theatre behind the
windmills provides a beautiful setting in which to enjoy
concerts and plays (July & Aug).
Beaches
The best beach on the Yialós side is Koumbára , a twenty-minute stroll over the
headland, where the scenery is rockier and more remote. There is also a smaller beach
