ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
MÝKONOS
By plane The airport is twenty minutes outside Mýkonos
Town in the centre of the island.
Destinations Athens (2-5 daily with Aegean and Olympic;
55min); Thessaloníki (1-2 daily with Aegean; 1hr);
Santoríni (daily with Sky Express; 30min); Vólos (2 daily;
1hr with Sky Express).
By ferry Most visitors arrive by ferry at the old port
jetty at the north end of town. Cruise ships and the
occasional overflow anchor at the new port, which is
1km further out. Check your ticket before leaving to see
if you have an old or a new port stamp. Boats for Delos
leave from the waterfront in town.

INFORMATION
Services There is no shortage of banks or ATMs in Mýkonos
Town. The island post office is near the south bus station.
There are countless advertiser-based tourist publications
circulating throughout Mýkonos during high season, the
best of which is the free Mýkonos Sky Map, available from
some agents and hotels.
Activities Kalafati (see p.394) is the activity centre of the
island with no less than three watersports facilities based
there: Kalafati Watersports for waterskiing and wake-

diving.com) for scuba diving, and Pezi-Huber ( T 22890
72345, W pezi-huber.com) for windsurfing. Alternatively,
behind Paradise beach (see p.393), Dive Adventures ( T 22890

Oct) offer introductory scuba and a full range of PADI.
GETTING AROUND
By bus The north bus station for Toúrlos, Áyios Stéfanos,
Kalafáti, Eliá and Áno Méra is located by the old port; the
south bus station for all western and the popular southern
beaches is just outside the pedestrianized area at the other
end of town. If you choose to use public transport to the
beaches from Paránga to Paradise, you certainly won't be
alone - on any sunny day in season the beaches and
