In-Depth Information
Beaches
The very attractive curve of Avlómonas , the long Livádhi town beach, has the
advantage of overlooking the inland capital, so that when you are swimming in the
sea you have a great inland view. Heading away from the dock, climb over the
southerly headland to reach Livadhákia , a golden-sand beach, shaded by tamarisk
trees. A further ten-minutes' stroll across the low headland to the south brings you
to the smaller Karávi beach, with its blue-green clear waters, but which has no shade
or facilities.
North of Livádhi Bay and accessible by bus in summer - or a 45-minute walk
(3km) along a (mostly) surfaced road - is Psilí Ámmos , a long, sheltered, award-
winning white-sand beach, backed by a large reservoir, and considered the island's
best. It is possible to continue on the road, then by path for ten minutes to the
larger, but more exposed, Áyios Ioánnis beach. Additionally, two more sandy coves,
Liá (naturist) and Áyios Sóstis , hide at the far eastern flank of the island opposite the
islet Voús; they are popular with the locals, and accessible via a dirt track off the
road to Psilí Ámmos.

Yacht club Livádhi Beach T 22810 51888,

seen at some point during the night, every night. Easter-
