DAMOÚHARI

place is actually a “village” of stone-built, creatively
decorated studio cottages and rooms below a small infinity
pool, with antiques and wood trim in the rooms and objet-
trouvé decor in its Kleopatra Miramare bar. There's an
excellen t wa terside annexe of five state-of-the-art rooms,
as well. €85
MYLOPÓTAMOS

approach to Mylopótamos these are the first rooms you
come to and among the best, just 1km from the beach.
Accommodation is spread over two rambling buildings;
each studio (2-3 persons) or apartment (up to 5 persons) is
brightly decorated and has kitchen, a/c and s pect acular
views of the sea from a private wooden balcony. €70

Paraskeví square but set back from the road. All rooms have
fridges and views, some have b alcon ies, and there's a
pleasant basement breakfast area. €50

Christos Martzos, this place scores as much for its common
areas - kitted out like a British gentlemen's club - as for the
eight antique-furnished, terrazzo-floored rooms in the

LIMNIÓNAS

Limniónas, at the very end of a rough, precipitous road,
stands this small, very welcoming, family-run operation, in
a secluded, leafy spot popular with hikers, beachgoers and
horseriders. Breakfast €8 extra. €45

Alfa ke Vita T 24280 99355. About 30m beyond the
platía tavernas, along a gravel path, look for a romantic
flowery terrace and enjoy carefully prepared dishes
employing fresh family-farm produce. Full meals for as

DAMOÚHARI
Karagatsi T 24260 49841. One of the best tavernas in the
area. Personable chef/owner Apostolis (who also runs the
unique hotel Damouhari ) puts together big Greek salads and
fresh fish creations, including his own taramasalata . Seating
features bay views, especially romantic at sunset. Dishes
€4-10. Daily lunch & dinner.

tables on the platía, and features grilled meats and stews,
as well as fresh wild greens and local veggies, depending

ÁYIOS IOÁNNIS
Ostria T 24260 32132. Hillside taverna featuring
Mediterranean recipes making use of herbs and strong
flavourings - proprietress Hariklia spent years in Florence,
so pasta dishes are prominent; reserve tables in season.

Poseidhonas T 24260 31222. Run by a fishing family,
this is the best seafood choice in the Pelion. They only sell
their own fresh catch of the day so can run out of food
quickly. Main courses run to about €6-8. Daily lunch &
dinner.
MYLOPÓTAMOS
Angelika T 24260 49588. Welcoming and efficient
taverna where the fresh fish is, as usual, expensive, but
other seafood, mezédhes and mayireftá are tasty and
