In-Depth Information
development along the Pagasitic Gulf despite no decent beaches. The far south , relatively
low-lying and sparsely populated, has just two major resorts - Plataniás and Milína - plus
a few inland villages and the picturesque fishing port of Ayía Kyriakí at the extreme
southwestern tip.
ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE THE PELION PENINSULA
Vólos (see opposite) is the natural gateway to the Pelion, and there are buses from there to most towns, if slow and
infrequent. The southern part of the Pelion can also be reached via speedboats to Ayía Kyriakí (Tríkeri) from Vólos or from
northern Évvia. To take full advantage of the place in all its variety, one's own transport is essential.
By air Arriving fairly directly in the Pelion from overseas is
possible, thanks to May-October charter flights to either
Skiáthos (frequent) or Néa Anhíalos (see p.670).
