Sacrifice of the People of Kalávryta (daily 9am-4pm; free), while outside of town is a
shrine to those massacred, with the single word “Peace” ( Iríni ), as well as the
historically significant Ayías Lávras monastery .
Ayías Lávras Monastery
he tenth-century monastery of Ayías Lávras (open roughly 8am-1pm, 4-6pm), 6km
southwest of Kalávryta, was the site where Yermanos, Archbishop of Pátra, raised the
flag to signal the War of Independence . Destroyed in World War II, it has been rebuilt
and features a small historical museum.

By bus Athens (1-2 daily; 3hr 30min); Pátra (4 daily; 2hr).
By train Last train back to the coast (currently leaves at
3.50pm, but confirm that upon arrival).
ACCOMMODATION AND EATING
If you miss the last train out, there are several hotels here, open all year since the town is something of a ski resort. There
are several adequate restaurants around the square as well as on the main pedestrian drag.

bit luxurious, with good amenities, including wi-fi and
winter pluses such as a hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi.

taverna has a quieter, less touristy atmosphere than most
and good, mostly grilled, main dishes, along with all the
fresh produce from the countryside to your table. About
€15-20/person. Daily lunch & dinner.
