attempt to promote the territory earns general
praise, even if interviews were also taken as an
important opportunity to comment, criticize and
give suggestions.
Also, the initiative of touristic promo-
tion brings out what we have already seen:
Mangialunga, 10 traditional feasts and other
events are all possibilities of constructing anew
the relationship with tourists, with other citizens,
with the administration, but at the same time
are also the places in which a different level of
participation and the real commitment come
out. If everybody seems to agree, as a matter of
fact, things are different, even if it is important
to continue in this direction, towards a larger
supply with which the majority of Levanto's
inhabitants agree and contribute, especially in
the voluntary forms. This form of social capital
can be seen as an indispensable resource in
many spheres. A last quote, coming from a part
of the interviewees but interesting for this rea-
son, relates to the advertising and promotional
dimension. They wish a more intensive activity
of promotion that they would like to share and
contribute to manage, connecting it with their
role of real testimonial that some of them want
to play.
There remains the need for defi ning a
development plan that Levanto's inhabitants
wish to know more deeply. It could be the fi rst
step towards strengthening and promoting the
social capital available in a more coherent and
co-ordinated way. Levanto's inhabitants seem
to be suffi ciently ready to play their part, more
so and better than they did in the past. The citi-
zen, to feel himself or herself and to act like a
real resource, has to share the project of growth
and feel well supported.
