In-Depth Information
By subway
A single subway line connects Kannai and
stations north to Shin-Yokohama, on the Shinkansen line;
services run every 5-15min and the minimum fare is ¥200.
By Akai Kutsu sightseeing bus
A retro-style sight-
seeing bus runs from outside Sakuragichō station's east
exit via Minato Mirai, Akarenga complex, Chinatown and
Yamashita-kōen to Harbour View Park, then loops back
via Ōsanbashi pier. Services run every 10-15min (¥100 per
hop, or ¥300 for a day-pass).
By ferry
Perhaps the most enjoyable way of getting about
the city is on the
Sea Bass
ferries (

that shuttle between Yokohama station (from a pier in the
Bay Quarter shopping complex) and southerly Yamashita-
kōen, with some services stopping at Minato Mirai and
Akarenga en route. There are departures every 15min
(10am-7.30pm; ¥700).

EATING
One of Yokohama's highlights is sampling the enormous variety of restaurants and snack-food outlets cramming the streets
of
Chinatown
. In fine weather, the casual little eating places on the ground floor of
Akarenga
are also a good option,
if only because you can take your food to the tables outside.
