a lovely spot high up on the north bank of the river, a good
20min walk from town - not terribly convenient, but the
lodge-like atmosphere and gorgeous surrounds makes for
a memorable stay, and walking up a few times will give

EATING AND DRINKING
Avoid the bland tourist restaurants clustered around Nikkō's train and bus stations, and chances are you'll eat
pretty
well.
The area's speciality is
yuba-ryōri
- thin, tasty strips of tofu, usually rolled into tubes and cooked in various stews; you're
likely to be served this at your hotel or pension. Most restaurants
close
around 8pm. Note that in Yumoto there are few
other places to eat aside from your accommodation.

will cost you ¥500, though the menu also has plenty of
vegetarian options, plus beer and sake.
