Designed like a street-food stall, and set on a side alley
away from the main road, this cute Korean barbecue place
is a fun place to cook salty beef short ribs above a charcoal
brazier for ¥1050; also consider other traditional dishes,

A faux-Edo-period storehouse is home to this
atmospheric Japanese restaurant. Take your pick between
reasonably priced soba (from ¥800) and grilled items (from
¥180) on the ground and second floors, while on the third
it's sushi - a full meal will set you back around ¥3000.
There's a wonderful samurai drama atmosphere, and it's
easy to see how the place inspired the climactic scenes of
Quentin Tarantino's
Kill Bill Vol. 1.

French masterchef has six Tokyo outposts; this one in
Roppongi Hills is the best, offering tasting menus starting
at ¥2950 for lunch, ¥4800 for dinner. There's a no-bookings
policy, so you may have to wait to get a seat at the long
counter, facing the open kitchen where black-garbed chefs
create culinary mini-masterpieces before your very eyes.

Top hotels aside there aren't too many
places in Tokyo where you can get as good a Western-style
gourmet breakfast as at this super casual place, which
successfully conjures up the stylish South Beach vibe in the
midst of Roppongi Hills; try the eggs benedict for ¥1800.
Later in the day it's just as good a spot for bistro favourites

American brasserie, as portions are huge. Their speciality
