ROOM RATES
Unless otherwise stated, the rates listed are for the cheapest double or twin room (inclusive
of taxes) in high season (summer); typically they rise during peak holiday periods, in particular
around Christmas and New Year, the Golden Week (April 29-May 5) and O-bon (the week
around August 15). Single rates are typically a third less than for doubles; at ryokan the
difference can show greater variation, so both single and double prices have been given in our
reviews. For dormitory accommodation and capsule hotels , the price per person is listed.
