In-Depth Information
Initialization files are associated with each type of shell (Bourne, C, and
Korn). These initialization files can be used to set up the environment before
the user has access to the system, when each shell is created, or when the user
exits the system. Initialization file templates are available in /etc/skel to
provide a starting point for creating custom initialization files. The system
profile ( /etc/profile ) is executed before any user account initialization files.
