In-Depth Information
Without a doubt, child rearing is time-consuming, as well as rewarding. But it is also im-
portant for married couples to reserve time for intimacy and not put it aside until they have
spare time. The spare time may not come until twenty years later. Maybe by then, nothing
will be able to bridge the gaps and differences that have built up over many years.
P ARENTS AND CHILDREN
Living overseas is quite a different experience for children than it is for their parents. Their
view of moving abroad can be quite at odds with that of adults. Those actually born outside
the “home” country consider the itinerant life to be the norm.
When they're grown up and gone, parents should remind themselves that their progeny
are only repeating what they themselves did by moving to another country in the first place.
Enjoy the precious time together while you have it. Then every member of the family
can share in the advantages of a lifestyle that few people on this earth will ever have the
good fortune to experience.
